ABOUT
NANCY MACALPINE
I use watercolour, acrylic and oil to capture the varied architecture of the Sydney region, native bush scenes, coastlines and headlands, as well as more intimate spaces, such as still life and interiors.

I grew up in Canada, moving to Australia in the 1980s. I first studied fine art and painting at Sydney University, graduating in 1988. I then went on to complete my Master of Fine Art at The University of NSW in 2009.

I have had a number of solo and group gallery exhibitions, and my work has been shortlisted in a number of art prizes. I am also a regular contributing member of the Sydney Urban Sketchers (sketching and painting plein air).

Details are important to me. Details can tell stories, evoke memories and give a glimpse of something beyond the ordinary.
